The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has welcomed the reappointment of Bishop Dr. Stephen Mairori, EBS, as the Non-Executive Chairperson of its Board for a further three-year term.
The reappointment was made by His Excellency, President Dr. William Samoei Ruto under Section 6 (1) (a) of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse Act (Cap. 121B), with the new term taking effect from January 20, 2026.
In a statement, NACADA expressed profound gratitude to the President for the renewed confidence in its leadership, describing the move as a strong affirmation of the government’s unwavering commitment to combating alcohol and substance abuse across the country.

According to the Authority, the decision underscores the national development and security emergency status that alcohol and drug abuse continues to pose, and reflects a whole-of-government approach aimed at addressing the scourge comprehensively and decisively.
NACADA further pledged its full support to Bishop Dr. Mairori as he continues to steer the organisation’s strategic direction. The Authority lauded his proven dedication, visionary leadership, and integrity, noting that these qualities remain critical as efforts are intensified toward achieving a drug-free nation.
“Under his continued guidance, NACADA is well positioned to advance to the next level in safeguarding the health, security, and future of all Kenyans,” the statement read.
Bishop Dr. Mairori’s reappointment comes at a time when NACADA has escalated nationwide crackdowns, policy reforms, and multi-agency collaborations aimed at curbing illicit alcohol trade and substance abuse, which have been linked to rising public health and security concerns.
The appointment was officially dated January 9, 2026, and signed by President William Samoei Ruto in his capacity as President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces.
