Gladys Songol wins the first edition of the Meru University Mt Kenya Run in 2025/HANDOUT
The event will feature races for elite athletes, masters, students, corporate teams, children and recreational runners, with the 14km race set to headline the programme.
The 14km race, open to elite men and women, will cost Sh2,500 to register. The winner will pocket Sh200,000, with the second- and third-placed finishers taking home Sh150,000 and Sh100,000 respectively.

The 8km race will have senior, masters (50 years and above), student and under-20 divisions. Registration is Sh2,500, with the top three finishers earning Sh40,000, Sh30,000 and Sh20,000 respectively.
The programme also includes an 8km Corporate Run, with a team of five costing Sh100,000 to enter, and an 8km CEO Challenge at Sh20,000.
A 3km Fun Run will cost Sh5,000, while the 3km Children's Race will be open at Sh2,500.
Meru University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor Prof Romanus Odhiambo said the institution hopes to build on the success of last year's inaugural event.
“We are delighted to welcome the second edition of the Meru University Mt. Kenya Run, building on the success of our inaugural edition last year. This year, we are looking to build on that momentum and do it bigger and better," said Odhiambo.
“Please register and join us for this noble event as we run for education and cancer research. The prevalence of cancer in Meru is quite high, and we want to be part of the solution.”
Last year's inaugural 14km men's race was won by Kenyan international mountain runner Michael Selelo Saoli in 48:43.
Shadrack Korir finished second in 48:52, while Josphat Tuwei was third in 49:01.
In the women's elite race, Gladys Songol claimed victory in 56:56, ahead of Regina Wambui in 57:46 and Jedidah Chepkemoi in 57:52.
