Public universities are struggling financially due to government underfunding, and poor financial management.

Director of Our Agenda, Emmanuel Manyasa says most universities rely on student fees, making them vulnerable when government funding fails.

He adds that limited funds also make it difficult to retain professors and support research that could attract more income.
