Radio Jambo emerged as Nairobi’s leading Kiswahili radio station during the breakfast hours in September, commanding a 17.47 per cent audience share, according to GeoPoll data.

The Radio Africa Group station ranked ahead of Citizen Radio, which recorded a 15.12 per cent share, and Radio Maisha, which posted 13.47 per cent in the 6 am to 10 am slot.

The figures place Radio Jambo at the top of the six stations featured in the September audience comparison, highlighting competition among Kiswahili broadcasters for listeners during the morning hours.

Milele FM recorded a 5.96 per cent audience share, while Ghetto Radio posted 1.20 per cent. Radio 47 was listed at below 0.64 per cent in the supplied data.

Breakfast programming is a key period for radio stations, with audiences tuning in for news, current affairs, discussions and entertainment as they begin their day.

Radio Jambo’s performance follows earlier GeoPoll surveys that have also placed the station among Nairobi’s leading Kiswahili broadcasters.

In a survey released in June 2026, the station recorded a 16.53 per cent audience share in Nairobi during the breakfast slot, with 1,244,643 listeners in the city, according to GeoPoll’s first-quarter Kenya Radio Audience Survey.

A subsequent survey for July 2026 placed Radio Jambo first among Swahili stations in Nairobi, with an 11.45 per cent audience share. Citizen Radio followed at 11.02 per cent, while Radio Maisha recorded 8.41 per cent and Milele FM 5.11 per cent.

Nationally, the July survey put Radio Jambo’s cumulative audience at 16.02 million listeners, making it the country’s second-most listened-to station after Citizen, which recorded 19.68 million listeners.

Radio Jambo is known for its Kiswahili programming, including news, sports, talk shows and audience-driven discussions.
