Africa CDC Director-General Jean Kaseya is warning African countries to strengthen Ebola preparedness, cautioning that no country is safe simply because of its geographical distance from an outbreak. Kaseya’s warning follows Nigeria’s confirmation of an Ebola case, raising concerns over the risk of cross-border transmission and the need for stronger surveillance, rapid detection and emergency response systems across the continent.
