The Fortune Global 500 rankings highlight the differences in profitability among the world’s largest companies, showing how much after-tax profit they generate for every $100 in revenue.
Technology giants NVIDIA and Microsoft led the group, each earning $55.60 per $100 in revenue.
Alphabet followed at $32.80, ahead of Meta at $30.10 and Apple at $26.90.
Traditional financial and energy companies also recorded strong returns.
Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) generated $24.30 in profit per $100 in revenue, while Saudi Aramco earned $20.80 and JPMorgan Chase $20.30.
Retailers, by comparison, operated on much thinner margins despite their substantial sales. Walmart retained $5.30 for every $100 earned, while Costco made $3.10.
At the lower end, CVS Health generated $0.40, while Glencore recorded just $0.10 per $100 in revenue.
The figures illustrate how profitability varies across industries, even among the world’s largest corporations.
