Kenya’s Tourism Fund missed its revenue target by Sh1 billion during the 2025/2026 financial year, collecting Sh5.65 billion against a target of Sh6.65 billion, according to data from the State Department for Tourism.
The shortfall marks a widening gap compared to the 2024/2025 period, when actual collections stood at Sh5.1 billion against a Sh5.5 billion target.
In contrast, the 2023/2024 financial year saw actual collections exceed expectations, reaching Sh4.9 billion against a Sh4.75 billion target.
The recent deficit was primarily attributed to delayed regulations aimed at bringing short-term rental properties, homestays, and villas into the levy system.
