The Orange Democratic Movement has rolled out a month-long commemorative calendar dubbed "Mwezi wa Baba" to mark one year since the passing of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The schedule kicks off on October 2, 2026, with a nationwide candle-lighting ceremony slated for 6pm. Regional political gatherings follow shortly after, beginning with a memorial rally in Kakamega on October 9 organised for supporters across five Western counties: Kakamega, Vihiga, Busia, Bungoma, and Trans Nzoia.
Attention then shifts to Bondo, where Raila’s family will lead localized memorial activities running from October 10 through October 15. On October 17, a major rally in Garissa will bring together supporters from Garissa, Wajir, Mandera, Isiolo, and Marsabit counties.
The memorial activities head to the Coast region across October 18 and 19, preceding the national observance of Mashujaa Day on October 20. The party will resume dedicated engagements in Kajiado County on October 21, before transitioning to Turkana county for three days of activities between October 23 and October 25.
The "Mwezi wa Baba" commemorations will formally conclude on October 31, 2026, with a final memorial rally hosted in Nairobi county.
