The kind of mayhem or violence that we might experience in 2027 will be mostly class. It will not be the same as 2007. There's still going to be violence, but it's mostly going to be class-related, which to me is more dangerous.
For the mere fact that the haves and have-nots, those who are underprivileged, are way more than the so-called middle class and upper-middle class.
Why I am saying that is because these seeds were planted in 2022 to an extent. When the current President started his campaign, it was hustler vs dynasty.
We applauded him, and we got a lot of flak for that, saying that cannot be a campaign premise, purely because he divides the country into that.
So those seeds were planted. Now, in 2024, when there was the Gen Z-led protest, the way the government quelled it was through violence.
By definition, government has a legitimate force of monopoly of violence, which is the police.
But the police were overwhelmed, so they started hiring goons.
Now, what we don't understand is that by doing that, it has escalated to where you see every political activity has violence.
When a legitimate government that is elected by the people uses asymmetrical forces as a political tool, it always ends in disaster. And a good example is Pakistan, you know, with the Taliban. And even here in Kenya, we're kicking.
So, we need to understand that government cannot use asymmetrical forces to advance on a political agenda, whatever it might be. It works for now, but the seeds were planted earlier.
Now, you can see across the country, in the areas where there was nothing like, political violence is now full of political violence.
You hear a politician saying, if the government can defend us from the so-called opposition, then we'll defend ourselves. And how they defend themselves is also to hire more young people in the name of security.
What we've created is a class of people who are hired out, sent out to provide security, who are basically goons, on both sides.
So, for me, 2027 is going to be bad because it's across the country.
