A man was stabbed to death in the Sanford area of Kayole, Nairobi, following an altercation with another man.

Police said the incident was reported by members of the public on Sunday morning.

The police found an unidentified adult male lying by the roadside, bleeding profusely from a stab wound to the chest. He was unresponsive.

Two eyewitnesses told police that the suspect encountered the deceased at the gate of a nearby premises before an argument broke out over an issue that remains unclear.

The suspect allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the man once in the chest before fleeing the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crime Scene Investigation officers visited the scene, processed it, and documented evidence as police began their investigation.

The body was removed and taken to the City Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending identification and a post-mortem examination.

Police subsequently pursued the suspect to his residence, where they arrested him.

Detectives are seeking to establish the circumstances that led to the confrontation and the motive behind the fatal stabbing.

He was expected in court on Tuesday, police said, adding they will seek more time to detain him for further probe into the murder.

And police in Trans Nzoia County are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man who was allegedly assaulted by three plantation watchmen in Endebess.

Richard Kavunja was found dead along a road near a maize plantation in Koronga South Village, Koronga Sub-location, on Saturday evening.

Police said they found Kavunja’s body lying along the road near the maize plantation.

Police said the deceased had a swollen forehead on the left side, bruises on both legs and whip marks on his stomach.

Preliminary information indicated that Kavunja had been cutting grass in a maize plantation belonging to a local when he was allegedly confronted and assaulted by three plantation watchmen.

The suspects allegedly used whips and sticks to assault Kavunja before disappearing from the scene.

Their whereabouts remained unknown as police launched investigations into the incident.

The scene was processed and documented by investigators before the body was removed and taken to Kijana Wamalwa Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

The body is being preserved pending an autopsy as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and pursue the suspects.
