Mosquitoes are the world’s deadliest animals when measured by the number of people they are linked to each year.
The data ranks mosquitoes first, with about 760,000 deaths annually, mainly through diseases they transmit.
Humans follow at about 600,000 deaths, while snakes account for roughly 100,000.

Dogs are linked to around 40,000 deaths, followed by freshwater snails at 14,000 and kissing bugs at 8,000.
Sandflies, roundworms, scorpions, tapeworms and tsetse flies also feature on the list.
Elephants rank 12th, with about 1,000 deaths.
