Kenya’s domestic sugar production declined significantly in 2025, falling to 7.04 million metric tonnes from a record 9.33 million metric tonnes in 2024, according to data from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).
The latest output represents a notable drop after production had steadily increased from 6.89 million metric tonnes in 2020 to 8.59 million tonnes in 2022.
Production then fell to 5.48 million tonnes in 2023 before rebounding strongly the following year.
