Kenya’s 2027 General Election is scheduled for August 10, 2027, with key electoral activities set to take place in the months leading up to the vote.
According to the electoral timeline, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is expected to publish limits for campaign expenditure, contributions and donations on August 10, 2026.
Political parties that meet legal requirements will receive compliance certificates by December 10, 2026.
Public officers intending to contest in the election must resign by February 9, 2027, while political parties are required to submit their membership lists to the IEBC by March 16.
Independent candidates will have until May 9, 2027, to submit their names and symbols. Political party and independent candidate nominations are scheduled for May 29 to June 11.
The campaign period will end on August 7, 2027, 48 hours before polling day.
Kenyans will then head to the polls on August 10 to elect the President, MPs, governors, senators, women representatives and members of county assemblies.
