Peter Salasya has sparked an online debate after posting a video and accompanying Instagram story in which he alleges that his name was deliberately excluded from a voting record list being circulated on social media.
The Mumias East MP claimed that the voting process in Parliament was conducted electronically and not physically, raising questions over the authenticity of circulating lists purporting to show how individual MPs voted.
“I voted no, and I was there”
In the video shared on his Instagram, Salasya described a situation in which lawmakers were initially prepared for a physical vote but were later instructed to proceed electronically.

“Nilitoka bunge 9 tulikua tunataka kuvote physically, but the members who were there wakasema tu vote electronically,” he said.
He further claimed that despite the electronic system being in place, a list had emerged online attempting to identify MPs who voted in a particular way.
“Sasa kuna watu wameenda wakatengeneza list sai inatrend, ati ndio waonekane… wamtoe Peter Salasya pale ndio asionekane,” he added.
Salasya insisted that he was present during the vote and had cast his ballot against the motion in question.
“Mimi nyota yangu iko juu and there is no way you can bring me down… I was there, and I voted no.”
Allegations of political targeting
In a detailed Instagram story caption, the MP alleged that some Members of Parliament had deliberately altered a voting list to remove his name and replace it with another legislator who, according to him, did not vote “No”.
“A few MPs sat somewhere and decided to remove my name and replace it with someone who never even voted ‘No,’” he wrote.
He further questioned the credibility of the circulating list, noting that electronic voting in Parliament should make it impossible to verify individual votes in that manner.
“The vote was electronic, and officially it is impossible to determine who voted yes or no,” he added. Despite this, Salasya maintained that the move to single him out was politically motivated.
“The truth remains the truth”
The MP concluded by stating that any attempt to remove his name from records or narratives would not affect his political standing or silence him.
“The fact that they went to such lengths shows one thing: they see me as a threat… Removing my name will not silence me, weaken me, or bring me down. The truth remains the truth, and I will continue to stand by my principles,” he said.
