Citizen TV journalist Stephen Letoo has officially entered the political race after declaring his intention to contest the Kilgoris parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
Letoo announced at a rally at Oldanyati Grounds in Narok County on Friday, August 29, where he appeared before supporters alongside several senior political figures.
The veteran journalist arrived at the venue by helicopter, marking a high-profile start to his political campaign. Fellow journalist Trevor Ombija, who is also pursuing an elective seat, attended the event.

Letoo confirmed that he will contest the Kilgoris seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket.
His declaration came shortly after ODM stepped up its grassroots activities in Kilgoris, including the opening of a new branch office in the constituency.

Letoo's political ambitions had been the subject of speculation for months, particularly after he became less visible on Citizen TV.
His author profile on Citizen Digital still listed him as one of the platform's journalists as recently as August 25, when he was credited with political stories.
The development has therefore added to growing discussion around journalists moving from Kenyan newsrooms into politics ahead of the 2027 polls.
Trevor Ombija is among other Royal Media Services journalists linked to elective politics.
Reports have associated him with the Nyakach parliamentary race, while other media personalities have also signalled ambitions for various seats.

The declaration attracted mixed reactions online.
