Meta platforms continue to command a massive lead in Kenya’s digital landscape, with Facebook and WhatsApp emerging as the most dominant online platforms.

According to the latest audience measurement and industry trends report by the Communications Authority of Kenya covering January to March 2026, Facebook leads internet usage at 67.1%, followed closely by WhatsApp at 55.8%.

The data highlights a significant gap between Meta’s top services and newer, video-centric platforms. TikTok secures the third spot with a 29.3% market share, closely rivalled by YouTube at 27.2%.

Visual and text-heavy social networking platforms trail further behind, with Instagram capturing 12.8% of online audiences and Twitter (X) maintaining an 11.3% share.

Search engines and web browsers account for a smaller but notable portion of active online engagement. Google registers at 5.5%, while specialised mobile browsers Chrome and Opera Mini stand at 3.7% and 3.4% respectively.

Alternative communication and professional networks occupy the lower tier of the market. Telegram records a 2.4% audience share, followed by the professional networking site LinkedIn at 1.1%.

Direct email communication accounts for a minimal 0.8%, while Snapchat anchors the list as the least utilized platform among those surveyed, capturing a mere 0.3% share.
