Uganda’s security agencies have moved to clear the air ahead of the expected return of singer and opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
According to the Uganda Police Force, there are no plans to introduce any special security measures for his arrival back into the country. The clarification was issued by Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma, who noted that standard procedures will apply, just like for any other returning citizen.
The statement comes amid growing public interest surrounding Bobi Wine’s movements following his recent trip abroad. Over the weekend, the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader was recognized at the Renew Democracy Initiative Gala 2026, where he received international acknowledgment for his political activism.

His anticipated return has sparked conversation, particularly given the tense political climate that followed the 2026 general elections. After participating in the electoral process, reports indicated that Bobi Wine left Uganda at a time when security presence around his residence had intensified.
Despite the speculation, authorities insist there is nothing unusual about his expected arrival. By downplaying the need for heightened security, police appear to be signaling a more routine approach to the situation, at least on the surface.
As the country awaits his return, attention remains fixed on how events will unfold and what it could mean for Uganda’s political landscape in the days ahead.
