President William Ruto on Wednesday met 5000 women from Maendeleo ya Wanawake Organisation at State House.

He promised Sh250 million to the SACCO for development purposes and to settle a Sh90 million tax obligation. 

“We will ensure every county has a digital platform for the Maendeleo Ya Wanawake SACCO, with Sh250 million allocated to each county to support women’s financial empowerment,” he said.

He rolled out SACCO structures per county through a digital platform, while also committing to support peaceful elections, land development, and the implementation of the two-thirds gender rule.

Ruto made several key commitments aimed at empowering women, promoting national unity, supporting land development, and addressing security concerns.

During the meeting, women were urged to mobilise communities across the country to support a unity vote and ensure peaceful elections ahead of the next General Election.

"It is my prayer, it is my plan, I hope that in 2027, the country of Kenya will vote in peace," the President said.

The President highlighted his track record in leadership and development, saying he has not been left behind in promoting progress, citing projects such as the construction of classrooms and residential houses. 

“I am in a unique position, and that is why I must make the difficult decisions necessary for our nation to move forward.”
