Canadian-based Kenyan content creator Vincent Mboya has made headlines after sending a substantial financial gift to comedian-turned-philanthropist Eric Omondi.

The YouTuber took to social media to celebrate Omondi’s birthday by transferring thousands of shillings to support the entertainer’s ongoing work.

Mboya shared a screenshot of the transaction on his Instagram stories on Monday morning. The record shows a payment of 1,392 Canadian Dollars (CAD) made on 9 March 2026. At the exchange rate, this amount converted to 132,481 Kenyan Shillings.

A Friendship Forged in 2016

The gesture appears to be rooted in a long-standing personal relationship. In his public message, Mboya referred to Omondi as his friend and big brother. He noted that the two first met in 2016, a time when Mboya was still establishing his career.

Mboya expressed deep gratitude for Omondi's early support. He credited the comedian as one of the few individuals who believed in his potential from the very beginning.

"You’ve been my friend and big brother since day one we met 2016. You’re one of the few people who believed in me, and still do till now."

Transaction Troubles and a $15,000 Promise

While the 132,000-shilling gift is significant, Mboya revealed that he intended to send a much larger sum. However, he encountered technical hurdles with mobile money limits.

According to Mboya’s post, he attempted to send a more substantial "reasonable" amount, but the transaction was blocked because Omondi’s M-Pesa account had already reached its daily limit.

To circumvent this, Mboya requested Omondi’s bank account details to facilitate a larger transfer.

"I just sent something small... it said your mpesa has reached the limit. Please, send me your account details. I got $15,000 for you."

The YouTuber claimed to have $15,000 (approximately 2 million KES) set aside for the philanthropist. He closed his message by wishing Omondi a happy birthday, using the nickname Le Presidente.

The Philanthropic Context

Eric Omondi has recently shifted his focus from professional comedy to high-profile humanitarian activism in Kenya. Through his "Sisi kwa Sisi" initiative, he regularly raises funds for medical bills, school fees, and small business grants for struggling Kenyans.

For his birthday this year, Omondi reportedly asked his followers and friends for financial support to continue these charitable efforts.

This latest donation marks one of the largest single contributions shared publicly by a fellow content creator for Omondi's cause.
