Children in Mukuru Kwa Njenga have a new place to learn, dream, and grow after AMG Foundation opened a community library aimed at transforming underserved communities through education.

The facility was officially launched on Saturday, February 21, 2026.

AMG Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of AMG Realtors, established in 2011, announced the launch of the new facility as part of its mission to expand access to knowledge and opportunity.
The launch event was marked by warmth and celebration, with Dr King'ori, community leaders, parents, and students in attendance. Children explored the shelves, settled into study desks, and logged onto computers with curiosity and determination.

The addition brings the number of AMG-supported libraries to five locations: Kangunduini (Murang’a, 2013), Githumu (Murang’a, 2019), Nanyuki, Kibera (2024), and now Mukuru Kwa Njenga.

According to the foundation, the libraries exist to give every child—especially those in underserved communities—access to knowledge, opportunity, and a fair chance at a brighter future.

Many children in Mukuru previously faced challenges such as overcrowded homes, limited electricity, and minimal access to books or digital tools, making focused study difficult.

In 2025 alone, AMG Foundation’s education initiatives recorded more than 50,000 attendances, an 82 per cent increase from 2024.

The foundation says the growth reflects rising demand for safe learning spaces and the trust communities have placed in its programmes.

It reports that children who study in its libraries have shown significant improvement in academic performance, with many going on to pass their national examinations.

Beyond grades, the foundation says learners gain confidence, direction, and a renewed belief that their future can be brighter than their present.

The Foundation notes that the most important transformation has been internal—children beginning to believe in possibilities beyond their immediate environment.

The Mukuru Kwa Njenga library is designed to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where learners can access books and computers, study in a quiet setting, and receive mentorship.

The facility accommodates 120 students per sitting, creating what the foundation describes as a safe and inspiring space for young minds to learn and dream together.

Equipped with a computer lab featuring 15 computers and internet access, the library opens access to digital learning and global information resources.

The foundation says the facility is intended not just as a reading space, but as a platform to unlock children’s potential and expose them to innovation and opportunity.

It is described as a promise kept—that every child, regardless of background, deserves a fair chance and that their potential will not be limited by their postal code.

AMG Foundation Director Andrew Muthee said the organisation remains guided by a simple belief: “Education is the greatest equalizer.”

The foundation says that by investing in education and supporting underserved communities, it aims to change lives, restore hope, and shape futures—one child and one community at a time.
