As the hours passed, her tone shifted from hope to deep despair. By the early hours of Wednesday, she was questioning why they were being punished.

The sources indicate that Abungana had been rushed to the hospital after sustaining severe head injuries during a violent attack on Tuesday night.

"God ni wapi tulikosea healing is your potion, husband. The man I loved with all my heart... Sila, it is too early, darling, it is too early, my husband."

Chilling Hints at the Cause of Death

In her most recent posts, the partner has made startling claims regarding those responsible for the attack. She questioned why anyone would kill an innocent soul. More notably, she included a cryptic message hinting at a personal betrayal.

"Why kill your own blood? Sila, don't sleep," she wrote in one post. This specific phrasing has sparked intense discussion among the football community. It suggests the attack might not have been a random act of street violence, but from people close to him. She also lamented having to tell their child that their father is gone.

From the Pitch to the Ward

The tragedy is particularly shocking given Abungana’s recent professional activity. He was a former Shabana FC player who had recently established himself at Kakamega Homeboyz. Just days before the attack, he was in peak physical condition.

On Saturday, he played the full 90 minutes in a Kenya Premier League match against Mara Sugar FC. There were no reports of injury or illness following the game. By Wednesday, a few minutes before midnight, the club confirmed he had succumbed to his injuries.

A Community in Mourning

Prominent sports journalists, including Carol Radull and Stephen Mukangai, have joined the football fraternity in mourning. They described the loss as a painful goodbye.
