The Manufacturing sector is the largest contributor, accounting for 18.50% of the county’s top-performing activities. This is closely followed by Transport and storage at 16.00%, which is highly characteristic of a major port city and reinforces Mombasa’s role as the gateway for East and Central Africa.

The Construction sector makes up a significant 14.45%, reflecting ongoing infrastructure and real estate development spurred by trade and population growth.

Combined with Wholesale retail Trader; repair of motors (11.95%) and Real estate activities (11.08%), it’s evident that trade, industrial activity, and related services form the backbone of the coastal economy.

Financial and Insurance activities also make a noteworthy contribution at 10.12%. In contrast to other major counties, sectors like Information and communication and Accommodation and Food services activities play a relatively smaller role, contributing 2.85% and 2.48% respectively, suggesting a focused economy anchored on its strategic logistical advantages.
