Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai has intensified his ongoing feud with Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, using his own past academic performance to launch a scathing attack.
The conflict stems from Mr Owino's popular online mathematics revision sessions for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates.
On social media, Mr Alai shared his KCSE result slip to prove his mastery of mathematics.

Showing Off the Numbers
The result slip, issued by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), confirms that Robert Onyango Alai attended Lela Mixed Sec. School in his secondary education.
The document, which appears to be from the November/December 1998 examination, shows that he scored an A- (Minus) in Mathematics (121).
The full set of grades shown on the slip included a B+ (Plus) in Kiswahili and B+ (Plus) in History and Government. His overall mean grade was a B- (Minus).
Mr Alai, who holds an elected legislative seat, used this academic record to underscore his qualifications in the subject.
“I am on the list of the best Kenyan Mathematicians. I scored A- (Minus) in a village secondary school called Lela,” he wrote.

He added that if he had attended the prestigious Alliance High School, he "would have taught the teacher".
The MCA also noted his advanced studies, stating he pursued Computer Science at USIU and is now pursuing a Master's in Data Analytics.
The Attack on Babu Owino
The posts were a direct condemnation of Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who is renowned for holding free online Mathematics and Chemistry lessons for national exam candidates.
Mr Owino, who himself scored an A- (Minus) in his KCSE, started the sessions during the COVID-19 pandemic to help students.
Mr Alai criticised the enthusiasm from Kenyans regarding the MP's teaching efforts, saying it was an ignorant move that allowed leaders to shirk their constitutional duties.

“My work is NOT to stream live basic maths lessons. My level of Mathematics is beyond the level of Patel and even his 20 associates. I live and eat maths,” Mr Alai stated.

He argued that leaders should focus on their core responsibilities, which are to legislate, represent, and provide oversight.
Mr Alai further stated that applauding an MP for teaching basic Maths lessons is "as stupid as electing Sakaja because he has dimples". He added that the fools cheering the other politician for "stupidity" are evidence of an "oversupply of idiots".
The Kileleshwa politician claimed that his counterpart "can't debate, sponsor a motion, bill, or even a statement on the floor of national parliament". He urged the public to focus on electing better leaders.
