Eunice Mburu during the training in Bomet. She emphasised that "money follows policies," stressing that local entrepreneurs must understand and align their businesses with government initiatives.
The training, dubbed Chanuka Jipange na Business Opportunities, was organised by 20x Entrepreneur, a non-governmental organisation that empowers youth and MSMEs across the country.
The organisation's CEO, Eunice Mburu, emphasised that "money follows policies," stressing that local entrepreneurs must understand and align their businesses with government initiatives to benefit from the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
She highlighted programmes such as Affordable Housing projects, which offer construction and supply chain opportunities, the Hustler Fund, Uwezo Fund, and Women/Youth Enterprise Funds for affordable credit, as well as the Nyota Program for youth capacity building and government procurement access.
Noting that most Bomet residents depend on farming, the attendees expressed concern over the falling tea bonuses. However, trainers turned this concern into an opportunity, highlighting alternative income streams such as value addition, farm worker training, and tea tourism.
The attendees urged the government to introduce more training programs in the locality to increase awareness of government initiatives and policies.
Interestingly, despite Bomet being the President's home county, many residents seemed unaware of these opportunities.
