President William Ruto

President William Ruto is expected in Kisumu on Thursday, 29, 2025, as he begins a three-day tour of the Nyanza region.

The Kisumu visit follows a sudden change in the President’s itinerary, which had initially included Migori County on Thursday.

In the revised itinerary, President Ruto, accompanied by Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, will start with Kirembe ground, near the airport, where he is expected to break ground for another affordable housing project within the area.

He will make road stopovers to address the locals while from the venue.

The President will then visit the Makasembo LAPFUND Affordable Housing Project, officially launching the first phase of the development aimed at increasing access to low-cost housing.

The Kisumu visit is expected to showcase progress in the affordable housing programme, a core pillar of the Kenya Kwanza administration.

It also presents an opportunity for the President to strengthen ties with local leaders, amid ongoing efforts to bridge political divides and foster development partnerships.

The President will then fly to Homa Bay County, where he is expected to launch the Gor Mahia Ring Road at Nagina, in Homa Bay Town Constituency.

The infrastructure project is anticipated to ease transport and boost trade.

On Friday, the Head of State will conclude the Blue Economy Conference, a major regional event bringing together stakeholders in fisheries and water resource management.

He will then open the newly constructed Homa Bay Fish Market, designed to enhance the fish trade and benefit local traders.

This will be followed by the launch of the Homa Bay Pier, which is expected to support lake transport and improve access to the lakefront.

President Ruto will also visit the Homa Bay Affordable Housing Project to assess progress and engage with stakeholders.

In Rangwe Constituency, he will open the new Rangwe Subcounty headquarters, aimed at strengthening governance and service delivery.

He will also visit Kosiga Dam, a key water resource project highlighting government investment in water infrastructure.

President Ruto’s revised tour highlights the delicate balance of political interests in Nyanza, as he continues efforts to deepen his administration’s presence in a region traditionally viewed as an opposition stronghold.
