Police are investigating an incident where a man was found dead inside a Public Service Vehicle in Kitengela, Kajiado county on Saturday.

The deceased, said to be around 40 years old, was found dead inside the bus belonging to a sacco at the Kitengela Bus park early Saturday.

A senior police officer told the Star that the matter was reported to Kitengela police station as a sudden death incident report.

Multiple sources told the Star that the man was a conductor, attached to the said sacco. Police, however, said the known man used to man the buses at the bus park at night.

"We are treating the matter as a sudden death incident. The deceased reportedly used to guard the buses at the stage before his demise," the officer said.

The cop said the deceased slept but never woke up on Saturday.

He was found dead inside the bus.

Some of the deceased's colleagues said he used to sleep inside the buses as he manned them.

He randomly spent his night in the buses, no specific motorvehicle, they said.

Police confirmed the body was found lying in the driver's carbin.

The bus's driver reported the matter to police after he stambled on the body.

He had reportedly gone to pick the bus for Saturday's operations when he discovered the lifeless body lying in the carbin.

The driver, according to the police, had expected the deceased to take him the motorvehicle at Eastmatt area within Kitengela Township.

He was forced to go get the bus himself only to learn that the same person whom he was waiting to take him the bus had died.

It's at that point that he rushed to Kitengela police station and reported the matter.

The driver reportedly stambled on the body at around 7.20am.

Officers from the station alongside their Directorate of Criminal Investigations counterparts responded to the scene, processed and documented it before removing the body to Kitengela Level 4 hospital mourtuary awaiting an autopsy.

The DCI's homicide detectives have since taken over the probe.

The bus was, however, reportedly driven to a car wash within Kitengela Township and washed before resuming its normal operations.

A man who claimed have worked with the deceased in Kitengela town since 2014 said he was well known to him and had a family living in Kibera, Nairobi county.

"The deceased worked as a conductor here in Kitengela town. I have worked with him here since 2014. I know him well. We have together over the said period of time worked for various saccos," he told the Star at Kitengela town hours after the incident.

The man is said to have been spending his nights in the public service vehicles from Monday to Friday and returned to his Kibera residence on Saturdays. Claims which the Star couldn't independently verify.

The deceased's family members were yet to get to Kitengela police station by press time.

Police, however, told the Star that they had been informed of the unfourtunate incident.
