Ruto expressed gratitude to UEFA and KWAL for bringing the CL trophy to Kenya, recognizing its significance to fans who may not experience live matches.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, a football legend, accompanied the trophy.

"On behalf of the Government and People of Kenya, I thank UEFA the team from KWAL for bringing the trophy to our football fans. Many of them may never have the opportunity to be in a stadium and experience the action firsthand. Simply seeing the trophy is, therefore, a very special moment for them,"Ruto said.

Bastian Schweinsteiger, a name whispered with reverence in footballing circles, stood beside the trophy, a living legend lending his presence to this extraordinary event.

His mere presence amplified the occasion, transforming it from a simple exhibition into a pilgrimage for Kenyan football fans.

To see the trophy, to be in the same space as a player of his caliber, was a dream realized for many. It was a moment that transcended the game itself; it was about connection, aspiration, and the unifying power of football.

"I am especially delighted that this prestigious prize, the UEFA Champions League Trophy, a true symbol of footballing excellence, is here in Kenya today, accompanied by one of the finest players the world has ever produced, Bastian Schweinsteiger. Karibu sana, Bastian and team; welcome to Kenya," Ruto said.

Kenya is one of only five African countries selected to host the UEFA Champions League Trophy during its 2025 tour.
