In a post on his Instagram page, Itumbi said significant strides have been made under the current administration in expanding affordable housing and employment opportunities for Kenyans.

Itumbi stated that since September 2024, more than 1,200 affordable housing units have been successfully completed by the current government, marking a key achievement in the government's ongoing housing development agenda.

He added that the government is making significant progress, with 124,000 units in various stages of development in the country. These form part of the ambitious programme of addressing the housing deficit the country has faced, with another 840,000 housing units slated for development within the next four years.

It also showcased that the ambitious project promises to create up to a million jobs, significantly increasing the country's economy and giving many Kenyans employment opportunities.

Besides housing developments, the government is working to increase access to homeownership through an ambitious mortgage scheme.

Itumbi said that the aim is to grow the number of mortgages in Kenya from 30,000 to one million, aimed at increasing homeownership and making housing more accessible to a greater number of people.

The mortgage and housing expansion initiatives remain core in the agenda of the administration of President Ruto to address the housing crisis, job creation, and economic empowerment of Kenyans.

It is with these projects already well underway that the government is set to make meaningful changes in the living standards of many Kenyans for years to come.

President William Ruto unveiled the Kenya Kwanza Alliance manifesto, in which he elaborates on the policies that informed his much-touted bottom-up economic model.

The projects were said to have two components, social housing and affordable housing, to ensure all Kenyans benefit from the programme.

Affordable housing financing is said that it will give ordinary citizens the opportunity to become homeowners.

On job creation, Itumbi said, under the leadership of President Ruto, 200,000 jobs have been created under the housing programme and another 840,000 will be generated by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in 2024.

Further on domestic jobs created by the government, Itumbi also says 107,000 community health promoters have been employed to support the Universal Health Care. He also says some 56,000  news teachers have been hired and another 20,000 will be hired in December 2024

Still on employment, Itumbi says that the government has enabled 243,0000 Kenyans to land jobs abroad since 2022, and 12,000 Kenyans have secured jobs overseas in the last two months.

Itumbi further says Kenya has so far managed to sign bilateral labour agreements with 22 countries, and plans are underway to connect 2 million Kenyans to global jobs.
