Police have arrested at least five protestors marching under the end femicide movement in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD)

The movement which was taking place on Tuesday attracted a large number of protestors who were demonstrating against the increased number of femicide and Gender Based Violence (GBV) cases in the country.
The police were forced to throw teargas to disrupt the peaceful protesters who were gathering momentum across different streets in Nairobi.

A move that was strongly condemned by Amnesty International after the arrest of peaceful protestors and the use of teargas against unarmed citizens.

The campaign runs annually from November 25 to December 10, highlighting the severe impacts of gender-based violence
