Raila Odinga with Kasmuel Mcoure

Gen Z political activist Kasmuel McOure has joined the ODM party, explaining his decision in a move that surprised some of his peers.

Speaking at his official welcome to the party, hosted by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, a prominent party leader, McOure stated that ODM is the party of both the present and the future generation.

The activist, who gained popularity during Gen Z protests, praised ODM for its long-standing resilience through tough democratic challenges, which he said has made it a beloved party.

He clarified that ODM is a party for all Kenyans, pledging his full commitment to mobilizing membership across the country, especially targeting his fellow youth.

“We’re calling on everyone with a clear mind to come out in full force to register the youth — not just those who are educated but also those without formal education, and those in every institution of learning — to ensure this is the party of choice.”

“To be honest, every Kenyan is an ODM member at heart, believe my words. That’s why we’re giving our all to register the youth and bring them into the party of today and tomorrow,” he said.

McOure expressed his gratitude to Governor Wanga for welcoming him to the party, assuring her that he would represent the voice of youth within ODM.

“If you’re ready to join a powerful political movement for a just, democratic Kenya where everyone can live with dignity, consider @TheODMparty — the largest party in East and Central Africa! We are reviving Youth and Student Leagues and calling on passionate Kenyan youth to help shape our future. Stand with us! Thank you, Party Chair @gladyswanga, for your belief and for welcoming us this weekend,” he said.
