United States-based Kenyan content creator Arnold Malcom has sparked a lively conversation online after publicly questioning the presence of foreign exchange traders within the Luhya community.

Known for his candid digital commentary, Malcom recently shared observations regarding financial trading awareness across major towns in Kakamega County and surrounding regions.

A Travel Route Across Kakamega

In a widely circulated video clip, Malcom mapped out a specific travel route across Western Kenya to illustrate his point. He highlighted several key towns along a prominent transit corridor, spanning from Webuye to Malava.

Malcom questioned whether residents along this regional highway are familiar with retail foreign exchange trading.

"Kwani hakuna forex trader Mluhya? Kwani hakuna Mluhya anajua forex trading ni nini?” he questioned.

He questioned why prominent online traders are rarely identified from the region. He expressed surprise that retail currency trading appears minimal across local transport hubs and market centres.

Direct Questions on Trading Awareness

During his commentary, Malcom raised direct questions regarding local awareness of digital financial markets.

He questioned why he had not encountered established traders from the Luhya community.

"Mbona sijawai sikia?"

Malcom described a continuous journey passing through multiple locations in Kakamega County. He noted the route stretching from Webuye down towards

"Unaniambia utoke Webuye ushike ile barabara kwenda Kakamega alafu upige choche uingie Stendi Kisa uteremke uteremke hadi Malava hakuna mtu anajua forex ni nini?"

His remarks focused on whether young people across these specific commercial hubs participate in online currency markets.

Context of Kenya’s Retail Forex Market

Malcom’s concerns comes at a time when several young Kenyans have joined forex trading as their main hustle.

Some of the prominent forex traders currently in Kenya include Kenyan Prince and Sammy Boy from the Kisii community, Chuka Kenyan Prince from Chuka, Onyango Tate from the Luo community, Nyathira and Mordechai from Kikuyu community among others.

Retail foreign exchange trading has experienced steady growth across Kenya over recent years. Thousands of young investors participate in online financial markets using mobile trading applications and digital payment networks.

Financial market regulators in Kenya have increasingly monitored the expansion of retail online trading platforms. Official industry reports indicate expanding participation in digital asset and currency trading among urban youth, driven by widespread mobile internet access and social media outreach.

Despite the nationwide growth of digital financial trading culture, Malcom noted a distinct contrast in visibility across different geographic areas.
