Huawei Kenya has trained and certified young people in essential cybersecurity skills through the 2026 Huawei Cybersecurity Associate Training Course.

The training equipped the youth with practical knowledge to identify emerging cyber threats, secure digital systems and pursue opportunities in Kenya's growing digital economy.

The training done in partnership with the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy and Huawei Technologies Kenya, covered key areas including network security, cyber threat prevention, firewall security, encryption and decryption technologies, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate systems.

The participants received their certificates during the closing ceremony of Cyberweek Africa 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), recognising their successful completion of the training and highlighting the importance of developing a skilled cybersecurity workforce.

Huawei Kenya's Director of Policy and Partnerships, Adam Lane, attended the certificate presentation, reflecting the company's continued commitment to youth empowerment, digital skills development and strengthening Kenya's cybersecurity ecosystem.

Held under the theme "Cyber Threat Intelligence in the Age of AI," the fifth edition of Cyberweek Africa brought together more than 1,200 delegates from over 20 countries to advance discussions on cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital resilience and emerging cyber threats.

“The training will go a long way the youth to spot cyber threats before any damage is done,” Lane said.

He noted that attackers are increasingly using Artificial Intelligence, highlighting the evolving nature of cyber security.

The forum, convened by the Kenya School of Government and CyberPro Global, in partnership with government institutions and international organisations, also featured discussions surrounding the Nairobi Declaration on AI Governance and Cyber Threat Intelligence and recognition of winners of the Youth Cyber Hackathon.

As Kenya accelerates its digital transformation, the growing adoption of digital technologies across government, businesses and other sectors underscores the need for skilled cybersecurity professionals capable of protecting critical digital infrastructure and information systems.

Through initiatives such as the Huawei Cybersecurity Associate Training Course, Huawei Kenya continues to contribute to bridging the digital skills gap, nurturing local technology talent and building a secure, resilient and inclusive digital economy.
