Lang’ata Member of Parliament Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, has faced criticism after making controversial remarks about Winnie Odinga during a political rally.
The lawmaker, who is eyeing the Nairobi senatorial seat in the 2027 General Election, sparked debate after suggesting that he could help Winnie find a husband as the two prepare for a potential political contest.
Speaking to a crowd during a rally over the weekend, Jalang’o addressed Winnie’s entry into the race, making it clear that he was not prepared to step aside.
“I must find her a man. Should I find her a man or not?” he asked the crowd.

The remark attracted criticism online, with some Kenyans questioning why the lawmaker had brought Winnie’s personal life into a discussion about political leadership.
Jalang’o Vows to Defeat Winnie Odinga
Beyond the controversial comment, Jalang’o expressed confidence in his chances of securing the Nairobi senatorial seat.
The former radio presenter claimed that President William Ruto supported his political ambitions and vowed to defeat Winnie if she challenged him for the position.
He said he intended to beat her during the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party nominations, adding that he would still defeat her if she joined another party.
“I will also show her dust in the new party, and I will become the senator for Nairobi,” he declared.

Winnie, the daughter of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, announced her intention to contest the Nairobi Senate seat during the first anniversary commemoration of her father’s death on October 15.
Jalang’o had already expressed interest in the seat before Winnie announced her bid, setting the stage for a potentially competitive contest.
Carol Radull Calls Out Jalang’o
Sports journalist Carol Radull was among those who criticized Jalang’o over his remarks, urging him to maintain respect as political competition intensifies.
“Jalas, my friend. Why are you attacking someone who has not even mentioned you? Please let’s keep campaigns clean, progressive and respectful,” she wrote.

Other social media users also questioned the relevance of discussing Winnie’s marital status in the context of an electoral contest.
@Imoreen asked, “When did finding a husband become an achievement?”
@Phylinejean criticized the remarks, arguing that Winnie deserved respect because of her family background.
Meanwhile, other commenters suggested that the remarks could affect how female voters perceive the Lang’ata MP as the campaign season approaches.
The controversy has added another talking point to the emerging Nairobi senatorial race, with Jalang’o and Winnie attracting attention even before the official campaign period begins.
