President William Ruto returned to his Koilel dairy farm to inspect his livestock and milk cows after leading Mazingira Day celebrations in Trans Nzoia county on Saturday.
The visit comes days after Ruto declared his love for farming, saying he feels sick when he goes for weeks without visiting his farm.
“I am also speaking as a farmer. And if there is one thing that I am very proud of, is that I am a farmer, and I love farming,” he said during the Agriculture and Food Security town hall at Jamhuri Park in Nairobi on Thursday.
“In fact, many days when I don't go to the farm for like three weeks, I really get sick because the farm is a very special place,” he added.

During the summit, Ruto highlighted growth in Kenya’s dairy sector, saying annual milk production had risen to 5.6 billion litres in 2025 from about 4.5 billion litres.
He said farmers who previously earned about Sh35 per litre were now receiving between Sh50 and Sh60, while milk production per cow had increased from about 2.5 kilogrammes to more than 5.6 kilogrammes daily.
The President attributed the gains to agricultural reforms and improved access to farm inputs, including subsidised fertiliser, whose price has fallen from about Sh7,500 to Sh2,000 per 50-kilogramme bag.
Ruto has repeatedly used his experience as a farmer to explain his administration’s focus on increasing agricultural production and improving farmers’ earnings.
