The secretariat representing Dr Oburu Oginga has officially dismissed social media claims regarding the health and wellbeing of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader and Siaya Senator.
The official response followed a post published on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) by blogger Maverick Aoko regarding Oburu’s wellbeing.
The post quickly circulated across social media platforms, generating substantial public interest and engagement.
In response to the spread of these claims, the Dr Oburu Oginga Secretariat issued an official statement.

The secretariat strongly condemned the online claims, describing them as unfounded fabrications.
Addressing the misuse of digital media, the statement noted: "It is deeply unfortunate that in this modern age of free information, digital connectivity, and open media, individuals choose to weaponize online platforms to cyberbully, peddle reckless falsehoods, and spread fake narratives for cheap attention."
The communiqué reassured party members, Siaya County residents, and the wider public regarding Dr Oburu's condition.
"We wish to assure the general public, members of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the people of Siaya County, and the entire nation that Dr. Oburu Oginga is well, safe, and in good spirits."

The statement explained that Dr Oburu was actively engaged in official duties at the time the rumours surfaced online.
The secretariat stated: "In an ironic twist of fate to the merchants of propaganda, at the exact moment these malicious rumors were being manufactured and spread online, Dr. Oburu was actively in the middle of preparing his official speech for the high-profile handover ceremony of the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga Mausoleum at Kang'o ka Jaramogi."
Medical Directives and Legal Measures
Regarding his daily routine, the secretariat confirmed that Dr Oburu is adhering to medical advice.
The statement noted: "While Dr. Oburu continues to observe strict directives from his doctors to take a forced rest and limit heavy physical engagements, he remains fully updated, mentally alert, and deeply engaged in key party and national matters."
The statement read: "We urge members of the public and the media to ignore the sensationalist fabrications being peddled by attention seeking bloggers and instead rely on official communication channels."
Furthermore, the secretariat confirmed that legal steps are being considered in coordination with party leadership.
