Kenya’s inflation rate remained relatively stable in the final months of 2025 before accelerating sharply in early 2026, according to data from the Kenya Consumer Price Index and Inflation Report released on September 30, 2026.
Inflation stood at 4.6% in September and October 2025 before easing to 4.5% in November and December.
The rate fell further to 4.4% in January 2026 and 4.3% in February, before edging back to 4.4% in March.
A notable increase was recorded from April, when inflation rose to 5.6%, before climbing to 6.7% in May.
It eased slightly to 6.4% in June but resumed its upward trajectory, reaching 6.5% in July, 6.6% in August and 6.8% in September.
The figures show that inflation accelerated by 2.2 percentage points over the 12-month period, pointing to growing pressure on household purchasing power as the cost of goods and services increased.
