Patiala Distillers K Limited has denied allegations circulating on social media questioning the authenticity of its alcoholic products, saying it is a licensed manufacturer operating in Kenya.
In a statement on Friday, the company, through its lawyers, said the claims were false and rejected suggestions that it manufactures or sells counterfeit alcoholic products.
Patiala said counterfeit alcoholic drinks bearing its brands should not be attributed to the company. It urged consumers to report suspicious products and outlets to the relevant authorities or directly to the manufacturer.
The company’s statement comes amid renewed public concerns over illicit and counterfeit alcoholic drinks and efforts by authorities to tighten oversight of the alcohol industry.
Patiala said it operates as a licensed manufacturer and sought to distinguish its genuine products from counterfeit goods that may be circulating in the market.
The company manufactures and supplies several alcoholic brands from its premises in Mlolongo, Machakos County.
Patiala has previously been involved in legal proceedings over the seizure and subsequent handling of some of its products in Mathira, Nyeri County, in 2024.
A July 2026 High Court judgment in Nyeri records that the company manufactures and supplies alcoholic beverages from its premises in Mlolongo, Machakos County
The court record also shows that the company had sued several government officials over the seizure and handling of its products in Mathira.
In separate proceedings in February 2025, the High Court at Nyeri quashed a decision to seize or ban some of Patiala’s alcoholic products and restrained the respondents from unlawfully seizing or removing the products from the market.
The company’s response comes as scrutiny of the alcohol sector remains heightened, with manufacturers facing increased attention over the authenticity, safety and regulatory compliance of products available in the market.
Patiala said its response was intended to reassure consumers that it is a licensed manufacturer while distancing the company from counterfeit products that may bear its brands.
