Riders of two- and three-wheelers accounted for the highest proportion of road crash fatalities in Mombasa in 2025, according to the Mombasa Road Safety Report.

The data indicates that two- and three-wheelers represented 44 per cent of all recorded road deaths in the coastal city throughout the year.

Pedestrians made up the second-largest category of victims, accounting for 37 per cent of total fatalities.

Together, these vulnerable road user groups—comprising riders, passengers on motorbikes or tuk-tuks, and pedestrians—bore the overwhelming brunt of fatal accidents in the county.

Vehicle occupants represented 13 per cent of the road casualties reported during the same period. Cyclists recorded the lowest share among all road user categories, accounting for 6 per cent of total fatalities in 2025.
