Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has once again caught the attention of Kenyans, this time after showing up at the Kenyan Embassy in Abu Dhabi with a fresh braided hairstyle.
The outspoken lawmaker appeared at the embassy rocking neat cornrows, with his new look quickly becoming a major talking point among his followers.
Salasya revealed that the hairstyle was not planned before his trip to the United Arab Emirates.
According to the MP, he met a lady while travelling to Abu Dhabi who ended up doing his hair, giving him the braided look he later rocked during his embassy visit.
The unexpected makeover did not go unnoticed, with some Kenyans immediately comparing Salasya’s new appearance to Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake, who is also known for his signature braided hairstyles.

One follower jokingly commented, “Our very own Asake from Kenya 🇰🇪,” while another told the MP, “Cornrows look good on you😅.”
Other followers reacted with laughing emojis, clearly amused by the unexpected transformation.
‘Mhesh Umeenda Na Hiyo Matuta’
The comments section continued to fill with jokes as followers weighed in on Salasya’s new appearance.
One person wrote, “Good job Kipsang,” while another quipped, “Mhesh umeenda n hiyo matuta😂,” referring to his braids.
Another follower simply wrote “Asake” alongside fire and laughing emojis.
Despite the attention his hairstyle received, Salasya’s embassy visit was centred on his observations about the opportunities available to Kenyans in the UAE.
In his post, the MP praised Kenyan Ambassador to the UAE Ken Nganga for efforts to create business and employment opportunities for Kenyans.
Salasya said his time in the UAE had made him appreciate the value of Kenyan human capital, arguing that the country has talented, skilled and hardworking people who can contribute significantly to its development.
He also reflected on the differences in working conditions between Kenya and the UAE, saying the experience had challenged him to think differently about how Kenya can create more opportunities at home.
