Artificial intelligence has emerged as the technology most likely to have a positive impact on society, according to the Bosch Tech Compass 2026 survey.
AI topped the list, with 43 per cent of respondents expressing a positive view, ahead of biotechnology at 36 per cent and climate engineering at 32 per cent.
5G and hydrogen or fuel cell systems also ranked highly, attracting 27 per cent and 25 per cent support respectively.
The Internet of Things followed at 21 per cent, while quantum computing and self-driving vehicles each scored 20 per cent.
Service drones, humanoid and service robots, and industrial robotics each attracted 19 per cent, with 3D printing at 18 per cent.
Blockchain and virtual or augmented reality tied at 12 per cent, while air taxis ranked last at 11 per cent.
The findings highlight strong public optimism around technologies seen as capable of transforming industries and addressing societal challenges, while newer concepts such as air taxis and extended reality remain less widely embraced.
