Detectives from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB) have arrested three suspected drug traffickers and seized 118.6 kilogrammes of cannabis sativa valued at approximately Sh3.3 million in Narok county.
The detectives, stationed at Narok Police Station, mounted the operation following what the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) described as credible intelligence on the suspected trafficking of narcotics in the area.
The officers conducted a coordinated raid within the Narok main quarry area, targeting makeshift structures believed to have been used to store and facilitate the illicit trade.
The operation resulted in the arrest of three suspects.
According to the DCI, detectives recovered 19 packages of cannabis sativa weighing a total of 118.6 kilogrammes. The narcotics were estimated to have a street value of Sh3,358,000.
The officers also recovered assorted packing materials allegedly used in the packaging and distribution of the drugs.
The three suspects are currently in custody as detectives process them ahead of their arraignment in court.
The seized narcotics have been secured as exhibits as investigations into the suspected trafficking network continue.
The latest seizure adds to a series of anti-narcotics operations conducted by security agencies in different parts of the country as authorities intensify efforts to disrupt the trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs.
In a separate operation on July 26, 2026, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) in Nakuru, working alongside Kenya Police Service K9 officers, arrested two suspects following a dramatic pursuit along the Eldoret-Nakuru Highway.
The officers had received intelligence concerning a vehicle suspected of transporting cannabis and mounted an operation to intercept it along the busy highway.
The DCI said the driver ignored orders by the officers to stop and instead accelerated, triggering a high-speed chase.
During the pursuit, officers managed to deflate the vehicle’s front tyre, but the driver continued driving in an attempt to evade arrest.
The vehicle reportedly made a dangerous U-turn at the KFA Roundabout before heading towards the Eveready area while travelling on the damaged tyre.
The suspects eventually abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot.
However, officers managed to apprehend two suspects in the operation and recovered suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of Sh3.3 million.
The two operations highlight the continued use of intelligence-led policing and coordinated surveillance by anti-narcotics officers to intercept suspected drug traffickers and seize narcotics before they reach the market.
