First Lady Rachel Ruto gives her remarks during a visit to Chesongoch in Elgeyo Marakwet County on October 21, 2026/HANDOUT

First Lady Rachel Ruto has attributed President William Ruto’s demanding schedule and frequent travels across the country to what she described as a God-given spirit to serve Kenyans.

Rachel said the President’s commitment to visiting different parts of the country and overseeing development activities was driven by his devotion to public service, even as she acknowledged that his busy schedule sometimes leaves Kenyans wondering how he manages to keep going without tiring.

Speaking on Wednesday during a visit to Chesongoch in Elgeyo Marakwet County, where she condoled with families affected by a recent landslide, delivered relief supplies and inspected government resettlement efforts, the First Lady urged Kenyans to continue praying for the President and other leaders.

“I thank the Almighty for our President. I say without fear, he is someone who is devoted to serving the people of Kenya,” Rachel said.

She noted that the President’s constant movement across the country had prompted questions among Kenyans about his ability to sustain such a demanding schedule.

“And sometimes people get worried about his busy schedule and wonder, doesn’t he get tired?” she posed.

“I think it is because of the spirit God has given him to serve the people of Kenya,” she added.

Rachel said the President remained committed to ensuring that all Kenyans benefited from government services and development projects, regardless of their geographical location or political affiliation.

She cited Ruto’s repeated pledge that every part of the country would receive government services without discrimination, saying the commitment should guide the country’s leadership as it approaches another election year.

“He has been saying all Kenyans across the Republic will be served without discrimination,” she said.

The First Lady urged Kenyans to pray for the President and other leaders as the country prepares for the next General Election, emphasising the importance of peace and unity.

“As we head to next year, as Mama Rachel, I urge that you continue to pray for the President and also all leaders,” she said.

Rachel stressed that peace was essential for communities to benefit from development, warning that instability could undermine economic progress and the delivery of essential services.

She also praised residents of the Kerio Valley, telling them that the region had been blessed and encouraging them to embrace peace as a foundation for progress.

“Kerio Valley people, God has really blessed you,” she said.

President Ruto has repeatedly maintained that his administration is committed to serving all parts of Kenya without discrimination, irrespective of how residents voted in the 2022 General Election.

The President has pledged continued investment in infrastructure, healthcare, education, electricity and other essential services, arguing that every Kenyan deserves equal access to development opportunities.
