Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly common in everyday life, but its rapid growth is also raising concerns among internet users worldwide.
According to the Digital 2026 Mid-Year Global Update Report, unreliability is the biggest concern surrounding AI use, cited by 26.7 per cent of respondents.
Job losses and the impact of AI on the economy ranked second at 22.3 per cent, while concerns about autonomy and agency followed at 21.9 per cent.
Other worries included cognitive atrophy at 16.3 per cent, governance at 14.7 per cent and misinformation at 13.6 per cent.
Privacy and surveillance concerns accounted for 13.1 per cent, while 13 per cent were worried about malicious uses of AI.
Questions around meaning and creativity and overrestriction each stood at 11.7 per cent.
The findings highlight growing uncertainty over AI's reliability, economic impact, social consequences and potential misuse as adoption continues to expand globally.
