
Broken bones are among the most common injuries worldwide, with millions of cases recorded annually across different parts of the body.
Data presented in the infographic, sourced from Voronoi by Visual Capitalist, shows that fractures affecting the knee, shin, calf and ankle account for the highest number of cases, at about 32.7 million annually among males and females.
Forearm fractures follow with 30.7 million cases, while injuries involving the collarbone, shoulder blade and upper arm account for 19.3 million.
Hand and wrist fractures record 19 million cases, followed by thigh or femur fractures at 14.6 million and hip fractures at 14.2 million.
Facial and foot bones account for 10.7 million cases, while spinal and skull fractures stand at 8.6 million and 7.6 million, respectively.
Pelvic fractures account for six million cases, while sternum or rib fractures are the least common among those listed, at 4.1 million cases.
