President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, has publicly expressed her affection for her Tanzanian fiancé, Isaya Yunge, days after their traditional engagement ceremony in Kilgoris, Narok County.
Charlene shared a heartfelt message on Instagram on Monday, August 10, 2026, following the couple’s Koito ak Chaik ceremony held on Saturday, August 8. The traditional event brought together members of the Ruto and Yunge families.

It was Charlene's first public declaration of affection for Isaya since news of their relationship began circulating, and fans were not about to let the moment pass quietly.

"Above all, to thank the one who pursued me, loves me, adores me, sharpens me... so intelligent and smart, kind and caring," she wrote, adding that while the ceremony was beautiful, she could barely wait to begin their life together.
Isaya's response was brief but tender.
He wrote: "Mpenzi" — Swahili for "my love" — a reply that drew its own wave of reactions from followers.
A major traditional milestone
The ceremony followed Kalenjin traditions, with family elders taking part in introductions, cultural rituals and bridewealth negotiations. Charlene and Yunge also appeared in traditional-inspired outfits during the celebrations.
The event attracted several prominent guests, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and ODM figures. Other notable attendees included Kipchumba Murkomen, Aden Duale, Johnson Sakaja, Winnie Odinga and journalist Larry Madowo.
Yunge is a Tanzanian technology entrepreneur and founder of SomaApp, an education technology platform. He has also been recognised on the Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 list and received the Queen’s Young Leaders Award.
