Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has shared rare insights into her personal life and her current approach to raising her children. Speaking on the AMTV podcast with Alex Mwakideu, the legislator explained why she does not communicate directly with the father of her two children, musician Samidoh.
The Senator revealed that while she is an active co-parent, she prefers to use intermediaries for all logistics. This arrangement allows her to maintain her peace while ensuring the needs of her children are met.
The Buffer System
Nyamu told Mwakideu that her personal staff now act as the primary point of contact for the Mugithi star. This buffer system is a deliberate choice for her most recent relationship.
“My co-parenting is very fun, first of all I have 2 baby daddies. I have 3 children, the first one I got from a previous relationship and is 11 years.That co-parenting, I do it direct.
This other relationship [with Samidoh] where we share 2 babies, I am yet to start doing co-parenting direct. My driver and my PA are the ones who handle it. They’re the communication line,” she said.
A Quiet End to the Relationship
Despite the public nature of their past, Nyamu described their eventual split as remarkably calm. She noted that there was no explosive argument or "breakup talk" to end things.
She explained that both parties reached a silent understanding that it was time to move on.
“It’s very interesting that it was my easiest breakup. Not because it didn’t hurt, but because it happened at a point sisi wote tulikuwa tumeshakubali.”
Why the Distance?
When asked why she has not yet moved to direct communication, Nyamu suggested that she is giving the situation time to settle. She believes that men often require more time to process the end of a partnership.
"Nimenotice kwamba kuna wanaume unajua nyinyi mnatake time refu kidogo kuprocess vitu zingine," she observed.
Karen Nyamu’s relationship with Samuel Muchoki, better known as Samidoh, has been a fixture of Kenyan tabloid news for years. The pair share two children. The relationship was complicated by Samidoh’s marriage to his high school sweetheart, Edday Nderitu.
After a series of public incidents, including a physical confrontation in Dubai, Edday eventually relocated to the United States with their three children. Since then, Nyamu has focused on her role in the Senate and has recently confirmed she is in a new, private relationship.
