Fridah Muthoni Ongili, a fashion entrepreneur and former banker, has offered a clear glimpse into her family life with Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Paul Ongili, widely known as Babu Owino.
Speaking during Owino’s birthday, Fridah revealed how her husband contrasts his public political image with his life at home as a husband. Babu Owino posted her speech on his social media with the caption: “This is what my lovely wife said about me.”
The couple first met at the University of Nairobi and have been married for 13 years. Together, they are parents to two daughters.

While the MP is widely known for his fierce political speeches and public controversies, Frida Ongili distinguishes his public image from his character at home.
“Nimebarikiwa sana kusema ukweli, kuwa na bwana mzuri kama Babu. Najua kuna yenye huwa mnaona huku nje venye ana operate kisiasa, but mimi niko na bwana.”
She emphasised that his care extends beyond his own immediate family to the wider community.
"I thank God very much for having a good husband who is also a good father to our children that God has blessed us with, and who is also a good father to all children."
She further joked that when God was blessing other women with husbands, she didn’t sleep on duty because she was amongst those who were blessed with the best husbands.
“Ni kama hiyo siku Mungu akipeana mabwana, mimi niliamka asubuhi, hiyo siku sikulala. Nilirauka na nikapewa best of the best husbands in Babu Owino.”
“Nashukuru Mungu kwa kunipa bwana mzuri, top of the top,” she added.
Public Prayers for Leadership Journey
During her address, Frida Ongili expressed her spiritual backing for her husband's political career and future ambitions.
She offered direct prayers concerning his health, safety, and leadership growth.
"Favour will surround you like a shield, and you will move from glory to glory for his glory."
"I pray that God will enlarge your capacity, enlarge your shoulders, because you're not just going to carry this county; you're going to carry this country one day."
She further invoked divine protection over him as he navigates his duties in public life.
"I also pray that you will be protected under Psalm 91 that there is no arrow that will fly by day or by night that will be able to come near you."
