Odalo has effectively secured another term to serve until the end of the current Assembly.
Odalo, who has chaired the influential Committee for the past four years, thanked members for the confidence they had shown in his leadership, pledging to continue serving diligently and ensuring prudent allocation of County resources.
Speaking to the media after his re-election, Odalo described the unanimous vote as a demonstration of trust in his leadership and the committee's work over the years.
“Thank you, it was a wonderful day. We conducted elections as prescribed under our Standing Orders, and Members elected me unanimously without an opponent. I want to thank ODM for believing in me and allowing me to complete the task entrusted to me some years back,” said Odalo.
He defended his tenure, noting that Nairobi residents had benefited significantly from strategic budget allocations made under his leadership.
Odalo highlighted the recently approved County Budget, expressing confidence that proper implementation and oversight would translate into improved service delivery across the City.
“We are operating in a very fluid environment, but with proper implementation and oversight, we will achieve our goals. We expect the Executive to strictly adhere to the budget as passed by the Assembly. If implemented as approved, Nairobians will receive better services, roads will be improved, and the bursary programme we recently passed will be a landmark achievement for residents across the county,” he said.
The Budget Committee chair further thanked residents of Mathare and Nairobi at large for their support, promising to continue providing leadership in the management of public resources.
Following his re-election, Odalo called on the Nairobi County Executive to strictly follow the approved budget guidelines to accelerate development projects and enhance service delivery in the city.
Meanwhile, the committee's vice chairperson, Emily Oduor, congratulated Odalo on his re-election, describing him as a transparent, trustworthy and development-oriented leader.
“He has served both members and Nairobians with utmost respect. His leadership has been defined by transparency and commitment to development, and I congratulate him on this well-deserved victory,” Oduor said.
Odalo's re-election is expected to provide continuity in the management of Nairobi County's budgetary processes as the Assembly intensifies oversight of public expenditure and development programmes during the remainder of its term.
