Edwin Sifuna is celebrating a successful start for the Linda Mwananchi political toolkit. In just over ten hours, the fund drive raised hundreds of thousands of shillings from thousands of Kenyans.
The initiative launched on 21 July 2026. It followed a morning media appearance by the Senator. By evening, the data showed a strong public response.
Sifuna shared the results on social media to express his surprise. He posted a simple but telling message for his followers.
A Surge of Support
The fund drive officially began at 7:30 AM. By 6:00 PM the same day, the total stood at Ksh 519,144. This rapid growth occurred within a 10.5-hour window. The Linda Mwananchi faction attributed this momentum to Sifuna’s recent media engagements.
The group expressed its gratitude on social media shortly after the figures were released. They noted that the public responded immediately after the Senator spoke.

The Power of Small Contributions
The data reveal that the fund drive relied on a high volume of small donors. A total of 9,419 people contributed to the toolkit within the first day.
The average contribution was quite low, standing at just Ksh 55. While some gave more, the minimum contribution recorded was only Ksh 1. The maximum contribution was capped or recorded at Ksh 5,000 for this period.
This "crowdsourced" approach is central to the Linda Mwananchi strategy. It allows many people to participate regardless of their financial status. The sheer number of contributors is what drove the total past the half-million mark so quickly.

A New Direction for Funding
The Linda Mwananchi faction is using modern tools to build its political toolkit. They are using a Paybill number to collect funds directly from the public. Their official website acts as a hub for the movement.
The success of the first few hours has set a high bar for the campaign. Sifuna and his team are now focused on maintaining the momentum.
Last year, activist Boniface Mwangi also launched an online fund drive for his campaigns. Mwangi is among several aspirants hoping to succeed President Ruto through the ballot in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
