Kenyan musician Arrow Bwoy has shared surprising details about the beginning of his relationship with fellow star Nadia Mukami. Speaking on the latest episode of the Mic Cheque Podcast, the singer admitted that their famous romance was not straightforward.

Arrow Bwoy confessed that Nadia was originally his "side chick." He explained that he eventually moved to "overturn the government" of the person she was seeing at the time. This allowed him to take her as his own partner and eventually his wife.

A Surprising Beginning

During the interview, Arrow Bwoy was candid about their early days. He noted that their situation is one that many people in society face but rarely discuss openly.

Defending his controversial song with Dufla Diligon, ‘Side Chick’, Arrow Bwoy added that he was singing about people’s experiences in life, revealing that even his own babymama, Nadia Mukami, started off as his side chick.

"Mimi hata kukutana na Nadia, I think alikuwa side chick wangu," the singer stated. He explained the transition from a secret flame to a main partner. "Inamaanisha nilikuwa namwimbia yeye. Unajua yeye ndiye alikuwa side chick hiyo time," he added.

He used a popular political metaphor to describe taking her from another man. "Nikakuja nikabadilisha serikali," Arrow Bwoy added. He believes that many current husbands were once "side dudes" before the relationship became official.

From Music to Romance

The pair first bonded over their professional work. They released the hit song Radio Love in 2019, which became a massive success across East Africa. Arrow Bwoy remembered being impressed by Nadia’s work ethic during their first studio session.

"The session was so professional," he recalled. He also shared a light-hearted memory of her eating habits from that day. "Anapenda ugali sana ugali ingine kubwa hapa," he said.

Despite the professional start, personal feelings eventually grew between the two. "Nikaanza tu kurusha mistari hapo kidogo," he admitted. Nadia gave a positive response, leading to a long-term relationship that has fascinated fans for years.

Current Status

The two musicians are now parents to two children. While they consider themselves a family, they are not yet officially married. Arrow Bwoy noted that pregnancies and cultural factors influenced the timing of a formal wedding.

"Wedding ilikuwa tumeipanga lakini sasa from their culture na pia culture yangu huwezi pia oa mtu akiwa ball," he said.
